90,000 football fans sing 'I Won't Back Down' as tribute to Tom Petty
It's been one week since the incredible, Tom Petty died and fans all over the world are still shook by the loss of one the world's best musicians.
Over the weekend at a football match between the Florida Gators and Louisiana State University, the Gators paid tribute to Petty with a video on the big screen with one of his most iconic songs.
“Let’s celebrate together what he meant to the world of music and what he meant to this community,” Florida Athletic Director Scott Stricklin said in a release prior to the tribute. “Since we are already singing ‘We are the Boys,’ [a pep song traditionally sung at Gator games] let’s go right from that into one of his great anthems and make that the way we are going to jointly celebrate Tom Petty and the Gators.”
It's great to see the influence Tom Petty had on so many people.
