music news 14/08/2018

Steve Perry has recently been very active on social media, all aimed towards a major announcement coming soon.

There's a possibility that Journey's ex-singer is preparing for his first album release in 24 years since For the Love of Strange Medicine.

There are several new Steve Perry social media accounts claimed to be official but have yet to be verified by the platforms. Each account shared a video of a phrase "I know it's been a long time comin'..." and a link to his website steveperry.com that shares the same artwork as the social posts.

Journey guitarist Neal Schon has retweeted the post as well, further confirming that this is real.

Perry had mentioned before that he wanted to release a new album last year after the death of his girlfriend.

I met someone and I fell in love with this person

Perry explained to ABC Radio, "...I lost this person to breast cancer four years ago. In the midst of that, I had written some songs, and before I met her I had sketched some. And so about a year ago, I started recording."

"It's been a real cathartic experience going back to that emotional place that I thought I would never go back to. And we really have been doing our very best to capture what I think are some timeless songs," Perry continued.

Perry also has an interview with CBS Sunday Morning which scheduled to broadcast on 7th October.
