A Namibian artist, Max Siedentopf has created a sound installation in the coastal Namib Desert that plays Toto's "Africa" on a continuous loop for eternity.

Using only solar batteries, the artist wants to pay the "ultimate homage" to the song by making a physical exhibit in Africa. Siedentopf tells BBC that some Namibians love it but "some say it's probably the worst sound installation ever.", which he takes as a compliment.

In an undisclosed location, the exhibit features six white speakers attached to an MP3 player that only contains one song - "Africa". He hopes that the song will continue to play for many years to come or until it succumbs to Mother Nature. You can see the approximate location of the exhibit below.

“Most parts of the installation were chosen to be as durable as possible,” he said. “But I’m sure the harsh environment of the desert will devour the installation eventually.”

Toto is currently riding high on the unlikely resurgence of their 1982 track thanks to the rock band Weezer who covered the song as requested by many fans.
