The Queen biopic 'Bohemian Rhapsody' has made huge waves worldwide, winning awards across the Oscars, BAFTAs, Golden Globes and more, and bringing in an estimated $1 billion USD at the global box office.
Not only was the film a success though, but Queen's back catalogue of music has experienced huge increases in sales and streams in the six months following the film's release.
According to Billboard, on-demand streams have more than tripled, from 588 million to 1.9 billion compared to the six months prior to the film's release. Track sales have risen from 527,000 to 1.9 million in the same time period, and album sales from 184,000 to 1.1 million (an estimated rise from $4 to $18 million USD in revenue).
The same trend is expected to follow for other biopics this year, such as Elton John's Rocketman, which was released this week.
