Rock legend Dave Bartholomew who used to work very closely with Fats Domino and wrote Chuck Berry's only number one hit song, 'My Ding-A-Ling', has passed away at the age of 100.
Bartholomew had recently celebrated his centenary on Christmas Eve last year. His pioneering career included an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Songwriters Hall of Fame as well as Louisiana Music Hall of Fame.
His family shared the news to the media. His son, Dave Bartholomew Jr. told Associated Press that his father's body broke down due to old age. "Daddy was 100 years and six months old. It was just that time," he said.
Bartholomew is survived by his wife, eight children and 25 grandchildren.
Listen to a rhythm and blues song that he had written with Earl King (who used 'Pearl King' as a pseudonym at the time) below.
