The Recording Academy has announced the lineup for the 2020 MusiCares Person of the Year Tribute. They will be honouring Aerosmith for their 30th tribute show.
The annual award is given to a musical act that has a long history of both musical excellence and philanthropy. For their 30th tribute concert, the press release singles out Janie's Fund, an organisation that Aerosmith singer, Steven Tyler supports. Named after the band's 1989 hit song, 'Janie's Got a Gun', the fund aims to help girls who have been subjected to physical and sexual abuse and neglect.
Taking place this 24th January at Los Angeles Convention Center's West Hall, the lineup includes Alice Cooper and Foo Fighters as well as Gary Clark Jr., John Mayer, John Legend, H.E.R., Emily King, Jonas Brothers and Yola. More acts will be announced later.
All proceeds from the event, including a silent auction, will benefit MusiCares, which helps those struggling financially or requires medical assistance in the music industry. The organisation also offers basic living assistance, substance-abuse counselling and educational workshops. MusiCares has given out over $66 million USD to those in need.
Previous MusiCares Person of the Year award winners includes Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Sting, Fleetwood Mac, Elton John, Stevie Wonder and Dolly Parton.
