This 30th June, the Street Survivors: The True Story of the Lynyrd Skynyrd Plane Crash film will be released on DVD, Blu-ray and video on demand.

The film tells the band's tragic story from the perspective of their ex-drummer, Artimus Pyle.

Pyle survived the crash and helped pull the rest of the survivors out from the wreckage. Portrayed by Ian Shultis, his character also narrates the film, while the real Artimus Pyle was advising the team during production and contributed original music to the film soundtrack.

In a press release, Pyle explained that this film was his story. "My story - is not just about the plane crash but also about my personal relationship with the genius that was Ronnie Van Zant - whom I loved like a brother and still miss to this day."

The film was produced without the approval of the current lineup of Lynyrd Skynyrd, which at one point filed lawsuits to prevent the film's release. While those legal actions were eventually overturned, the band's still refused to allow their music to be used in the film.

Street Survivors official soundtrack will also be released on the same day, 30th June.
