“Easy Sleazy” is Mick Jagger’s new track featuring Dave Grohl that pokes fun at the craziness and anxiety of life during the pandemic.
The track references cancelled travel plans, cancelled tours, Tik Tok dances and zoom calls. Jagger even discusses how normalised the amount of Covid cases have been received and how we’ve taken it on the chin.
They even go so far as to poke fun at conspiracy theories like how Bill Gates is in our bloodstream and how the earth is flat and cold. Despite the humour of some of the lyrics, the song is optimistic about the future singing about how we’ll be able to escape these prison walls and that soon this will be a memory to forget.
In a new Rolling Stone interview, Jagger said,
"It’s a song that I wrote about coming out of lockdown, with some much-needed optimism... It was a lot of fun working with [Grohl]... [The track is] a reflection on the last year; the physical and mental strains put on society."
Grohl said, "It’s hard to put into words what recording this song with Sir Mick means to me. It’s beyond a dream come true. Just when I thought life couldn’t get any crazier ... and it’s the song of the summer, without a doubt!”
