The Beatles, Queen, & Eagles Among the 10 Top Paid Musicians of 2020

music news 26/07/2021

COVID-19 may have stopped the music world in its tracks with tours being postponed and album releases being pushed back, but that didn't stop these musicians from bringing home massive paychecks.

Billboard has released their list of the top five musicians in 2020 and among them, are some very familiar names.

With an approximate earning of $16.3 million (USD) across the year, the Eagles were the fourth highest paid act.

Luckily for the band, they were able to perform ten shows of their Hotel California Tour before the pandemic forced its suspension, bringing in more than $11 million with another $2.7 million being made off streaming services.

Streaming also played a big role in Queen taking out the 7th spot on the list. The band made over $5 million from fans listening to their music from home with another $5 million coming in through physical sales.

Right behind Queen was Liverpool's own, The Beatles coming in at number 8.

The reissues of their ever popular albums on vinyl saw the band sell over 670,000 copies, helping them bring in $12.9 million.
