After 17 years, The Rolling Stone magazine has decided to update its list of the top 500 songs. Artists, industry figures and writers helped choose a new list of current anthems and new classics.
Back in 2004, Rolling Stone released its list of the 500 Greatest songs of All Time. However lots has changed since then and there are plenty of new classics to be acknowledged. Nearly 4000 songs recieved votes. This new list contains more diversity in its genres compared to the original list and more than half of the songs aren't on the original list.
Aretha Franklin topped the charts with her song Respect topping the list at number 1. She overtook Bob Dylan's Like a Rolling Stone which now sits at 4th place.
