The director of Blade Runner 2049, Denis Villeneuve has revealed that David Bowie was meant to star in the new movie which gets released later this year.
Bowie was the first choice for the character Neander Wallace however when news broke of the singer's death in January he was forced to consider other talent.
"Our first thought had been David Bowie, who had influenced Blade Runner in many ways" director Denis Villeneuve says, "when we learned the sad news, we looked for someone like that."
Jared Leto ended up taking the role.
The new movie is set to launch in October.
