Iconic rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR) are set to take us back to 1970 with the release of a live recording of one of their most famous performances.

The American band’s set at London’s Royal Albert Hall came just days after the Beatles announced their break up and the band made their mark.

At the end of their performance, the audience gave them a 15-minute standing ovation and journalists gave them high praise in papers and magazines the next day.

Almost fifty years after it happened, producer Giles Martin and engineer Sam Okell carefully and meticulously restored the film and audio of the set - which includes performances of some of their best songs: “Born on the Bayou”, “Proud Mary”, and “Bad Moon Rising” amongst others.

Accompanying the live footage will be a documentary concert film titled ‘Travelin’ Band: Credence Clearwater Revival at the Royal Albert Hall.’ The documentary is directed by Grammy winner Bob Smeaton who also directed the films ‘The Beatles Anthology’ and ‘Jimi Hendrix - Band of Gypsies’.

According to the band’s YouTube channel: “The film takes viewers from the band’s earliest years together in El Cerrito, CA through their meteoric rise to fame”. There’s also a bunch of unseen footage and the live concert is the only footage of the original lineup of the band performing together.

The one and only Jeff Bridges is also the narrator of the documentary.

Ultimate Classic Rock reports that Bridges talks about the band’s immense achievements during 1969, when, as Bridges reportedly says in the film “the band had achieved five Top 10 singles and three Top 10 albums on the American charts, outselling the Beatles.

‘John, Tom, Stu and Doug’ may not have had the familiar ring to it of ‘John, Paul, George, and Ringo,’ but Creedence were challenging the Beatles for the title of the biggest group in the world.

The live performance is set to release on September 15th, while the box set including the documentary and a bunch of other goodies will be available on the 14th of November.
