FRI September 1,

1973 Bob Dylan's soundtrack to the film, "Pat Garrett and Billy The Kid" enters the LP charts.

1973  Alice Cooper's "Billion Dollar Babies" peaks at #57 on the singles chart.

1977  Blondie signs its first major record company contract with Chrysalis.  

1977 Billy Idol's former band, Generation X, release their debut single, "Your Generation." Elton John reviews it for a British newspaper calling it "really dreadful garbage. The Ramones do this sort of thing so much better." 

1983 Paul Simonon and Joe Strummer of the Clash, fire guitarist Mick Jones, accusing him of "drifting apart from the original concept of the band." Jones goes on to form Big Audio Dynamite, and the Clash soon breaks up.

1979  INXS make their live debut at The Oceanview Hotel in Toukley NSW  Their first true gig was in 77 when they called themselves The Farris brothers (that was at Tim Farris 20th b/day) The  in 1978 they spent the year writing &

performing in Perth before Michael Hutchence joined them in 79 & they called themselves INXS

1979 U2 release their first record, an EP entitled, "U2-3" in their native Ireland.

1970 Genesis ran an ad in "Melody Maker" magazine, which was answered by Phil Collins, who eventually joined the group.

1971 Rolling Stone reports Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Bill Wyman, Charlie Watts and the late Brian Jones' father have filed suit against former Rolling Stones managers Eric Easton and Andrew Loog Oldham. The suit charges the two deprived the band from royalties through a deal with the Stones' first label, Decca.

1972 The Hollies' "Long Cool Woman (In A Black Dress)" peaks at #2 on the singles chart,

1978 George Harrison marries Olivia Trinidad Arias, a secretary at his Dark Horse record company.

1978 Boston's second album, "Don't Look Back" enters the LP chart.

1978 Cheap Trick's "Surrender" peaks at #62 on the singles chart

1989 Cars lead singer Ric Ocasek marries model Paulina Porizkova.

1995 The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame opens in Cleveland with a concert that features, among others, Bruce Springsteen and Chuck Berry.


SUNDAY September 3,

1973 The Rolling Stones' "Angie" is released. (1973) 

1977 Heart's "Barracuda" peaks at #11 on the singles chart.  

1982 Fleetwood Mac, the Police, Jackson Browne, Tom Petty, the Grateful Dead, the Cars, Pat Benatar, Talking Heads, Dave Edmunds, Santana, the B-52's, the Kinks, Eddie Money, the Ramones play at the The 3 day U.S. Festival in San Bernardino, California over 400,000 people show up , Financed by Steve Wozniak, the founder of the Apple Computer Company.  

1983 Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble's "Texas Flood" LP enters the chart.

1992 David Bowie appears on the cover of "Architectural Digest", the first human to do so in 4 years. He tells the magazine that, "my ambition is to make music so uncompromising that I will have no audience left."

1994 – Head Stray Cat Brian Setzer marries Christine Schmidt.
