Jimmy Barnes explains that his new album has "nothing in particular" to do with his two memoir books.
Titled 'My Criminal Record', watch Barnes talk about the title track of the album in the video above.
It's about the criminality of poverty," Barnes says. "How can we let people in this country (Australia) live in poverty? We talk about the lucky country, we talk about how well off we are, we see our politicians up there saying how they're going to give concessions for this, rebates for this..."
Barnes says that we are not supporting the people in the community who needed it most. "You know, there are people out there just starving to death. People are out there still living like I did when I grew up, and that for me is criminal."
The songs on this album are really personal because they were inspired by the experiences I had writing and touring my memoirs. - Jimmy Barnes
'My Criminal Record' has landed on the #1 album spot on the ARIA Album Charts. The album marks Barnes' first collection of new original songs to hit #1 since the 1990's 'Two Fires'. In New Zealand, the album peaked at #3, marking the highest debut ever in 26 years for Barnes.
The Sound is proud to support Jimmy Barnes, who will be returning to New Zealand for three massive shows this September.
