From INXS to The Doors: The Sound's Guide to Classic Rock releases happening this Black Friday

We're talking unreleased live albums and vault tracks from some very familiar names.

Black Friday has long been celebrated by standing in crowded malls with impressive discounts on everything from gadgets to socks. But what if we told you there's a way to inject some rock 'n' roll spirit into the annual shopping event?

This year's Black Friday on November 24 promises to be a musical feast of sorts.

While there’s only one Record Store Day a year, Black Friday gives independent and major labels another opportunity to create special releases.

The lineup releasing this Friday includes previously unreleased live albums from Joni Mitchell and Los Lobos, vault releases from Grateful Dead, The Doors and plenty more familiar names.

Classic Rock releases on Black Friday 2023:

With 6300 copies hitting shelves, this release is a treasure trove of never-before-heard demos from the 1974 album.

Listen to the recording from August 21, 1970, featuring improvisations and medleys of The Doors' most beloved hits from their various albums.

A fresh collection featuring 11 rare B-sides, remixes, and live performances from INXS's groundbreaking 1982 album.

It includes extended versions of hits like ‘The One Thing’ and ‘Black & White’, as well as tracks that haven't been available on vinyl since the early '80s.

Releasing 7500 copies of a five-LP set of what is widely considered one of the greatest runs in Grateful Dead history.

The RSD website says the release is “mixed from the 16-track master tapes by Jeffrey Norman, and mastered by Jeffrey along with tape restoration by Plangent Processes”.

A fresh double LP from Faces, showcasing a never-before-released performance from John Peel's Sunday Concert.

This recording is set to highlight the iconic Faces lineup with Rod Stewart on vocals, Ron Wood on guitar/vocals, Ronnie Lane on bass/vocals, Ian McLagan on keyboards/vocals, and Kenney Jones on drums.

Having not been reissued on vinyl for over a decade, this Black Friday release sees the original album cut to lacquer by Dave McNair and spread across 2 discs for improved fidelity.

It also includes a third LP of previously unreleased demos.
