Randy Meisner, one of the founding members of the Eagles, has passed away at the age of 77.
The Eagles announced the news on their website saying "The Eagles are sad to report that founding member, bassist, and vocalist, Randy Meisner, passed away last night (July 26) in Los Angeles at age 77, due to complications from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)".
"Randy was an integral part of the Eagles and instrumental in the early success of the band. His vocal range was astonishing, as is evident on his signature ballad, ‘Take It to the Limit'”.
Alongside Glenn Frey, Don Henley, and Bernie Leadon, Randy Meisner helped form the Eagles in 1971.
Meisner was the original bassist for the band but helped co-wrote and add his high harmonies to such favorites as "Take It Easy" and "The Best of My Love".
Meisner left the group however in 1977 due to "exhaustion" before reuniting with the band for their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.
After leaving the group, Meisner went on to pursue a solo career, releasing multiple albums including "Randy Meisner” in 1978, and “Love Me or Leave Me Alone” in 2004.
