The Cars' lead singer, Ric Ocasek has died of heart disease.
According to his estranged wife, Paulina Porizkova, Ocasek recently underwent a surgical procedure that would ensure his full recovery.
"Ric was at home recuperating very well after surgery," Paulina Porizkova explained on Facebook. "Our two sons, Jonathan and Oliver, and I were making sure he was comfortable, ordering food and watching TV together. I found him still asleep when bringing him his Sunday coffee. I touched his cheek to rouse him. It was then I realized that during the night, he had peacefully passed on."
His sons also shared a drawing that their dad had doodled. "Yesterday, we found this last doodle on his armchair," the brothers said. "He couldn't have known what it would end up meaning to us. We love him so much."

NYPD received a call around 4pm on Sunday "for an unconscious male" at an apartment on East 19th St. which was where Ocasek lived. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
